A hiring manager once said to me, “Before I hire anyone they have to pass the Europe test”. When I asked what that was she replied, “I have to be comfortable sitting next to them on a plane to Europe”.
When I thought about that, I decided she was right. People hire people they are comfortable with and unless you have the most outstanding skills, the job will go to the person that fits well into the organization. So when you are interviewing, remember to let your personality out and change the interview from a question and answer session to a friendly conversation.
